Project Overview
Better nutrition for rural boarding students in poverty-stricken areas
Spring Sprout Project was jointly launched by ACF and China National Committee for the Care of Children (CNCCC). It aims to establish Spring Sprout Kitchens and train kitchen administrations for boarding schools in mid and western China with high concentrations of left-behind children, so that students there can have balanced and nutritional meals. ACF plans to invest RMB 50 million in three years to set up 1,000 Spring Sprout Kitchens in primary schools in the poor areas of 10 mid and western provinces, which is expected to benefit 500,000 children.
Educational aid to left-behind children in poor areas in western China
Rainbow Project was launched by ACF in partnership with the Chinese Youth League. The project sponsors postgraduate volunteers from famous Chinese universities to teach in western China. Schools in poor areas in western China usually lack education resources, have backward education philosophy and are not good at promoting students’ all-round development. The project addresses these problems by upgrading school facilities, assisting dropouts to return to school, organizing recreational and sports activities, and promoting all-round development of left-behind children so as to create more opportunities for them. ACF plans to invest RMB 17 million in three years to sponsor 2,100 postgraduate volunteers from 80 universities. The project is expected to benefit more than 600,000 children.
Social integration for migrant children in cities
Sunshine Project was jointly initiated by ACF and China Young Pioneers National Working Committee. It sponsors Sunshine Cultural Activity Rooms and sends outstanding teachers from top schools to teach after-school courses for migrant children. In the meanwhile, it also hosts Sunshine Activity Groups to promote healthy growth and all-round development for migrant children, and help them to better integrate into the society. ACF plans to invest RMB 11 million in three years to build 125 Sunshine Cultural Activity Rooms, and set up 250 Sunshine Activity Groups participated by both urban and rural children. The project is expected to benefit 400,000 children.
