ACF Received RMB 1M Support from Central Government


    The central government completed work on including supports of community organizations and community services in its 2013 budget. ACF's "Care Community" initiative was successfully chosen to receive RMB 1 million in central government support. Of the 470 organizations chosen, the ACF is one of the only three private foundations to receive funding. Only 49 organizations receive funding upward of RMB 1 million, with the highest package of RMB 1.3 million going to projects such as the "Channel Earth" professional opportunity development project founded by China Journalist Association. This represents an affirmation of ACF's credibility and management capability by the central government

    The grant comes from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and is open to project-based applications from eligible social organizations. For the 2013 fiscal year there were 1,200 organizations applying for the grant, of which 470 received funding after expert panel review and approval from the grant commission.

    According to the "Proposal On 2013 Central Government Budgetary Support of Social Organizations Involvement in Social Service Projects", the total fund allocated under the proposal is RMB 200 million. The grant covers four areas: Area A is development model setting, of which there are 189 projects, totaling RMB 50 million; area B is social service trials, of which there are 112 projects, totally RMB 70 million; area C is social work demonstration, of which there are 116 projects, totaling RMB 60 million; area D is human resource development, of which there are 53 projects, totaling RMB 15 million.
